Movie Review - The Incredibles

Released in 2004 by Pixar, The Incredibles is an animation directed by Brad Bird and starring Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Sarah Vowell, Spencer Fox, Jason Lee, Samuel L. Jackson and Elizabeth Peña. It belongs to the action and superhero genre.

The prelude to the story is when, due to many accidents and legal processes, superheroes are banned in the USA. Thus, they are forced to live as normal people. Robert (Mr. Incredible) and his wife Helen (Elastigirl) are a traditional and peaceful family. They have three children, Violet, Dashiell (Dash) and Jackson (Jack Jack).
Tired of a routine life, Robert accepts an invitation to fight on an island with scientific experiments without his family knowing. But when so many "work trips" turn out to be strange, Helen suspects her husband and goes to talk to Edna Moda, a fashion designer, to see if she knows anything. Going to the island by plane, Helan realizes that her two oldest children have travelled in secret without her knowing. The plane is shot down, but the family survives, arriving on the island, where they face several challenges until they are reunited with Robert. They were imprisoned by Syndrome, who was a frustrated child in the past and the owner of the island, who set a trap to kill him. He sends a monster machine to the city, planning to save it. The family, now when they could escape, also returns to the city, where they save them, since Syndrome was defeated by his own out-of-control machine. Syndrome ends up dying in a plane turbine, and the family can finally live in their country again, with the possibility of heroes returning to action.
The film is very well produced and scripted. The characters are very well constructed and original, like Edna, who is both cheeky and funny. Certainly, she is my favourite character. Syndrome also deserves praise for his construction, and as Isabela Boscov would say: "he is a bitter, hostile person who hates everyone."
The film grossed around 500 million dollars. It won two Oscars: best sound editing and best feature film, in addition to many other nominations.
